Years ago

(dedicated to Mel to show her that I don't care what she says or wears....not too many things you can do to shock me!)
Ross's cousin had a baby. Their family was coming into town and he has 10 siblings, and their spouses and their kids...parents, grandparents and that's just on one side of the family, she had 5 siblings & parents & family & kids & stuff - so they decided to try to do the baby blessing at MY house - it was a big open space and they wouldn't kick all the "regular" Church goers out of the chapel by filling it w/ their own family (how annoying is that when your "regular" bench is occupied by someone else - and you have to sit back in the hard metal chairs? dang!)

SO - we had 70 plus people in my house for a baby blessing - I was in charge of the food - (because it wasn't enough that I had to clean the house in preparation of it being totally and utterly destroyed --- but I digress....) So we said an opening prayer (our bishop, their bishopric & the SP were all present at my house for the joyous occasion - as well as all the family members, etc) we had a quick 30 second scripture quote thing - then we had the baby blessing and a closing prayer - so in a 3 minute window we had 3 blessings -- one to bless the blessing, one to bless the baby and one to bless the house & refreshments....

Not 30 seconds later, I pulled the lasagna out of the oven and burn the HELL out of my arm - everyone's being reverent - looking at the sweet baby - I have two sisters in law in my kitchen helping me w/ the food preparations - and as I touch the oven door w/ my forearm, I yelled (no not a quiet thing - this was a shock a burn - OUCH) "Oh shit!" (slight pause for effect) "dammit that hurt" And turned around to see that I had caught everyones attention in the room - So I did what any true blue blooded mormon girl in my situation would have done - I crossed myself by way of penance and high fived my SIL - then proceeded to announce that it was a good thing the food was just blessed...but next time maybe they could bless the hands that had prepared it?

So I'm thinking my tube tops and thongs are out, but I'll still come w/ my painted on jeans and won't feel bad with a little slip of the tongue. ROFL!
