Camera Comparison...

Okay - I took two cameras - and I'm doing side-by-side comparisons, both cameras were used on overcast days, with the same child doing the same thing - to see which one I like better. Please tell me which one you thought did a better job. Camera 1 or camera 2 (one of them is about 3 times the price of the other, but HEY, if it takes good pictures, won't it pay itself off in the end?)

Camera 1: Took Brynn to the park & did some "burst" pictures of her coming down a slide. You can click on them to see the quality of the larger picture.

Camera 2: Again - more "burst" pictures, this camera has a faster burst rate (instead of 3 pictures coming down the slide, I had 7, but for comparison, I am only posting 3), but looks like it sacrafices pixels for speed. Click to see the quality of the larger picture.

Camera 1: Still shot, set in portrait mode

Camera 2: Still shot, set in portrait mode

Camera 1: Action shot, again, set in portrait mode

Camera 2: Action shot, set in portrait mode.

K... the first set... Camera one has WAY better quality!

the rest are the SAME... you'd never know they weren't the same camera.

Hmmm... I'd have to say camera one, but only on the first set of shots.

Total dittos with 'kris'

as you may have noticed, I am also in the market for a new camera. Sigh. I'm curious what you're testing and what prices you're looking at? I recently discovered the FujiFilm s5200 FinePix. Heard of it? Or, if I"m goin' cheap, there's the Coolpix by Nikon. I can't go truly professional (hello, $600 ++++++ for a camera?) but I'd like a little better than what I had, which I paid $200 1.5 yrs ago. =p

LOL, aren't you the one who keeps saying it's not the camera, it's the photographer? hehe

Camera one is better. It's most obvious on the "burst" shots, of course, where camera two gives very grainy pictures. But even on the others, I noticed a difference in sharpness and color. The camera one pictures just look like better quality to me overall. Of course, that's comparing them side by side. Camera two isn't BAD quality, and on its own they would look just fine. But compared to the others, I do see a difference.

And then of course, you have to ask yourself if you're planning to take lots of burst pictures, because the quality on those with camera two was unacceptable. But otherwise, that camera is fine.

So, which one is the expensive one? If it's camera two, then you got ripped off, lol.
