Why do you do it?

Take the music off your blogs. I've posted about it before. I haven't started the overwhelming exodus of music from blogs yet, but I'm on a mission - and I'm quite the salesman...

I don't like your music in my speakers. I'm not going to be on your blog long enough to hear all 40 songs you have on your list, just the first 10 seconds of whatever song you have playing on there - or even 2 seconds, enough to have the blaring speakers (that my children turned all the way up to listen to their music or play their games) that will THEN wake my sleeping-by-the-speakers baby UP.

If I want to hear music, I want to hear music that I pick...I want to hear music when *I* want to hear it - and not the same song every time I visit your blog.

I don't want to have three blogs open at once competing for my attention while playing punk songs, church songs, rap songs, country songs or songs I haven't even heard before - Just take the songs off your blog, it's not popular any more. Its SOOOO "last month"

I love to blog stalk my friends and family, but at the expense of clashing down-beats and poor choice in faves combined with the fact that my children have to listen to everything at full sound volume - it's just easier to change the world than it is to get my kids to keep the volume on the speakers down.

so please. help in an effort to maintain my sanity and delete your music thingy's from your blogs.

Brushing shoulders

Just a quick update. We were in Tucson this morning and into the afternoon at Nike's high school invitational swim meet. Ross was entered in 2 events. Of course, being a freshman, he's not as experienced as a lot of the swimmers, he swam 74th of 129 (and others who registered no time, so they were DQ'd or no-shows) in the 100 yard breast stroke with a time of 1:23.10 - the first place guy came in under a minute. And he also chose to be in the 200 individual medley race. His time was not his best, it was 2:45.32 (best is 2:42) but he ranked 64th (also several DQs - sadly a teammate of his was DQ'd with a time of 2:35.

It was really very fun to be at, but the best part of it, Ross was smitten by Olympic Silver medalist, Lacey Nymeyer who he got her to sign his invitational t-shirt and swim cap, and went back again for her to sign his swim bag! He wanted her to sign his bare chest for good luck in the IM but I told him NO WAY! Stinker! But I did get this photo without the help of my camera who is currently suffering from stupid camera-card syndrome. (it's my cell phone camera that came through with the picture! So sorry about the quality!)

Lacey is just a cute girl with a neat personality - poor thing sat & signed autographs for 4 hours and posed for pictures, and the whole time keeping up friendly conversation with everyone - I'm sure the same "stupid" questions over and over again "did you bring the medal?" (Yah, I asked that, and while I was still standing waiting for her to sign all Ross' paraphernalia, two other people asked it...she answered politely - at this point I was ready to make a sign that said "No, she didn't bring the medal, DUH!" but didn't.)

More fun at the dinner table.

Kali: What's for dinner?
Mom: Meatloaf w/ potatoes and carrots.
Howie: Yum, that's my favorite, except the carrots.
Rossi: Carrots are good for you, they give you good eye sight.
Mom: Good poop food (yes, I have to unclog their toilets daily, I just want them to get along w/ the sewage pipes, ya know?)
Rossi: So make sure you eat a lot of carrots, you NEED them.
Dad: But if you eat too much carrots, your skin will turn orange.
Kiersten: That's what happened to the oompa loompa's.
Howie: But carrots taste like vomit. And if you eat vomit, you die.
Rossi: Don't eat too much vomit, or you'll turn orange.
Kali: The meatloaf looks like mokey brains.

What a BLAST!

I had a girls weekend away this last weekend. First, let me set your minds at ease by telling you, if you were wondering, I AM alive. I get so stressed out to leave my family, I'm sure I'm going to die. But I made it back.

I also found (for your reading enjoyment) the quick capsulation of our escape last year! Kind of fun to relive the party from last year!

It was SUCH a great retreat! I flew alone, but landed at the same time as Crysty & Lisa. Crysty brought Amy, I brought Coby, Lisa brought a burp rag. We met in the terminal and went down to baggage claim. We were first met at the airport by Vic & Shayla. Oh my GOSH, was that the funniest sight to see...

MOST of our friends were able to make it, they came from Utah, Texas, California and Idaho. We got a big group photo of the majority of us - there were still 5 or so that were coming and going and didn't happen to be there when we shot the pictures. That's Ana & Me in the back picking the long-horn nose...empty...go figure.

I learned how to make jewelry, play human scrabble, and the funnest game in the world, Curses! It was a great get-away, it needed to have more sleep scheduled into it, because here it is Tuesday and I still feel like I'm at least 12 hours behind on my sleep!

OH - and look! We did a photo-shoot with Amy & Coby, Kris took the pictures! I saw them and needed to squeeze those babies again! Great job, Kris!

I actually took pictures of the jewelry I made, but for whatever reason, my camera card has decided to crash - so I anticipate spending the next several hours trying to recover the other pictures I took! DRATS! Anyone else have that problem with xD cards?

Okay MOTHER:

You were digging through pictures, and while I know I should be packing today for my doomed September 11th flight tomorrow - I had to spend some time reminiscing over my kids - particularly my girls - two of them look IDENTICAL and the other two look IDENTICAL! I sure had fun digging through all the pictures. Howie & Kiersten had WAY more hair than the others! But all their pictures are so cute - they grew up WAY too fast and aren't even GROWN yet, it really was fun looking through them.

So here's everyone about 6 months old:
Kali (left) & Kiersten are the two on the top
Brynn & Coby (right) are the two on the bottom

How cute is this? They're both wearing the same outfit!

So yes, I wasted my day looking at old pictures and remembering how cute and non-sassy they were...and yes I have tons to do before my impending doom - and yes, I'll be back on Monday to post again - because I'll still be alive, but quite honestly, I get so wound up and anxious when I leave my family!

So anyway - here are the pictures - have fun trying to figure out who looks alike and which picture belongs to which - yep, there's one of me in there, too - I'm SURE you'll be able to tell, I'm the angelic one.
Here are the girls at about 3 years old! (A little easier to tell them apart, I guess)

A picture lasts longer

Ross surprised me he got me 29 roses for my birthday! Not intentionally - he meant to get 2 dozen - the costco special - but apparently he grabbed the "bakers 2 dozen" or something because there were 29 roses in there, I thought it was funny that he didn't say anything - wondering if I would notice enough to count - but when I mentioned something to him, he had no clue! MEN! Cute, though, so I guess it's okay. Either way - I do love roses, I love the way the open and have a seemingly endless array of pedals, I love how they look like velvet, I love how imperfectly symmetrical they are, but most of all, I love that they came from my love!
Then the other day I was watching my friend's kids - and they were starting to get cranky - so I figured they were either hungry or tired, apparently they were BOTH! Here's them chowing down while they were kicking back! It's a wonder what heart shaped pb&j sammiches does for a 2-3-and 4 year old!

So now, Coby gets ever so slightly jealous of whatever Brynn has - of course, Brynn's on my lap because she gets ever-so-slightly jealous that Coby's constantly keeping it warm...so Coby looks over to Brynn with her baby doll and just wants the whole of it.

They decided to play together...

Look, Coby's kissing the baby - okay - maybe she's trying to latch on, but still - darling, don't you think? haa!

29 things I love about me

yah, it's my birthday - and keeping up with the tradition of listing the age in years of things I love about each family member who has a birthday - here's my list of 29 things I love about myself...(don't even GO there!! Just nod & smile, yes, I'm 29, SHUT UP!)

1 - I love that, even though the last 12 years have been bad hair years for me, I still manage to get out in public. I'm brave.
2 - my deodorant ROCKS - I can totally get nervous when I'm telling people how old I am - and the deodorant totally kicks up to high gear - never let 'em see me sweat.
3 - I rarely have to buy new shoes, 4 years in a row on my flip flops...and my running shoes, still look BRAND NEW (no, you're not allowed to snicker at that)
4 - I still fit into the same clothes I wore 7 years ago, I KNOW, "wow," right?
5 - I've caught up on laundry at least 15 times since Howie was born.
6 - I only have to shave once a week, fine blonde leg hair - (poor Kali gets HERS from her dad!)
7 - I'm not pregnant.
8 - I have a trophy husband.
9 - I get to watch reality TV smut in the middle of the night when ALMOST everyone else is sleeping (thanks, Coby)
10 - Haven't gotten hot flashes yet this late in my life. Phew.
11 - Haven't had my period in almost a year (oh YAH, I went there, I mean who WOULDN'T love that about themselves?)
12 - 5 out of 6 children think I'm pretty cool (the other thinks I'm warm milk)
13 - I don't do dishes on Saturdays.
14 - They're LAUGH LINES not CROWS FEET
15 - God highlights my hair - Grey's the new blonde, and cheaper, too.
16 - I'm not pregnant. Still. I *REALLY* like that about myself.
17 - I'm secure enough I don't HAVE to have the door shut when I tinkle. I don't get stage fright with little eyes watching me, either. SO THERE, BRYNN!
18 - I can nurse AND load the dishwasher at the same time.
19 - I "Killed the Metal" on Guitar Hero III level HARD. indeed.
20 - I haven't gotten in a fight with myself ALL DAY...woot woot!
21 - I can change a diaper with my eyes shut.
22 - I'm not pregnant.
23 - Just trying to take up space, I can't believe I have to think up 6 more things. Glad I'm not older.
25 - Even though I know how to count, I still have the ability to skip numbers without anyone knowing unless I bring it to their attention {cough, cough 24, cough cough)
26 - I have never folded to the pressure of those "get thin quick" infomercials. I have yet to see one whose theory is to stay away from M&Ms...
27 - I can still fit into my size 3 wedding dress.
28 - If you believe #27, then you'll believe I'm pregnant.
29 - I know how to effectively work a table saw, router, sander, chop saw, nail gun AND my HUSBAND.

Playing catch up!

I think I've been busy lately. I can't really be sure, the last week or so has been a blur - so here are some photos to help me journal along the way. (actually it's been more than a week, to be honest)

We went to the worlds largest free pizza buffet (supposedly) there wasn't anything in the news about it - but it was free, and hey, as cheese covered cardboard is concerned Cici's certainly knows how to do it. There were all kinds of inflatable toys & stuff there to help in the lour of stupid families in the valley - (Yes, it's free, yes, it tastes like cardboard, but HEY, we got inflatables - AND - tada - face painting) The lady who did this was really good!

(Brynn also got her face painted, a butterfly on her cheek, but she was napping and yelled at me when I tried to take a picture, touchy!!!)

So see Howie here, his eyes are golden (click on the picture to make it larger). You may notice the fangs, too, that he asked the face painter to include...why yes, that's also blood dripping from the fangs, (by way of red paint) so as you can tell, he's just eaten and this is why his eyes are calm and golden - my little uh - vampire cheetah.

AND finally, Brynn's first day of preschool was today. She was so thoroughly exited to go!
She was met by her overly medicated teacher (Okay - she's not medicated, but really - who would intentionally inflict NINE three year olds on herself?)
She lives the "Secret" if she puts happy faces on each of her ears, she'll be happy. It worked...she's all kinds of happy!
Thanks Bedie! Brynn had a FANTASTIC first day of preschool!
